Care For Your Jewellery
Much thought, time, and care is given to the design and finish of each piece in order to bring Tracy Trainor Jewellery to life. Beautifully handcrafted jewellery is an investment and it is important to take care of it to ensure it brings you joy for many years to come.
General Care
Precious metals, such as gold and silver, react to moisture and chemicals. As such, it is recommended that you remove your jewellery before cleaning, swimming, bathing, and applying lotions or make-up. Because of this, always put your jewellery on as a finishing touch after getting ready.
Polished jewellery can be gently rubbed down with a jeweller’s soft polishing cloth to remove tarnish. It is advised, however, polishing cloths are not used on patinated finishes.
In order to prevent pieces from being scratched in storage, it is best to store them separately in the original presentation box in which they arrived.
Patinas or Oxidised Jewellery
Over time silver naturally oxidizes and blackens. This process can be chemically accelerated to give a glossy black finish known as patina. Though patina is sealed, it will overtime change either bringing an endless array of colour combinations to a piece or in some cases fading like a much loved pair of jeans. The process differs in time and intensity depending on how you wear or handle the piece and will become as unique as you.
